Bro Coffee Roastery – Whole Bean Coffee Nicaragua Colibrí Azul Speciality 400g
- A speciality coffee from Nicaragua's Jinotega with 84 SCA points, wet-processed and roasted medium light. Hazelnut, grapefruit and a touch of black tea over a silky, light body – an elegant choice for filter brewing.
Bro Coffee Roastery Nicaragua Colibrí Azul Speciality – lightness straight from the cloud forest
Jinotega is a mountainous department in northern Nicaragua and one of the country's key coffee-growing areas. The beans for Bro Coffee Roastery Nicaragua Colibrí Azul Speciality are grown on the slopes of the Cordillera Dariense, 1100-1450 masl, right next to the Cerro Datanlí – El Diablo reserve. Its damp cloud forest shelters nearly 250 bird species, among them the blue hummingbirds that gave this coffee its name. The farms grow Caturra and Catuai trees.
The coffee is washed: stripping the pulp before drying leaves a clean, clear profile. The medium light (3/5) roast we chose for it is meant to preserve the freshness of grapefruit and the elegance of black tea, while giving the hazelnuts a gentle sweetness. Combined with low, delicate acidity and a smooth, light body, this gives us a subtle coffee, ideal for anyone who looks for finesse rather than power in the cup.
Colibrí Azul shines brightest in filter brewing: the dripper and Chemex bring out a clear, tea-like cup with a citrus accent. The AeroPress makes it sweeter and nuttier, while espresso shows its light, elegant side.
Quality confirmed by the SCA score
What is the SCA score? The Specialty Coffee Association is a global authority in the coffee world, setting uncompromising standards. Qualified experts evaluate the beans on a strict 100-point scale during professional tasting sessions. The finest nuances of the brew are analysed: from aroma, through acidity, all the way to sweetness and balance. Exceeding the 80-point threshold is the ultimate proof that the beans are completely free from defects and belong to the absolute global top tier.
At Bro Coffee Roastery, we do not compromise. Every bean that goes into our roaster undergoes rigorous selection. The Nicaragua Colibrí Azul Speciality coffee has achieved an excellent score of 84 points on the SCA scale, which proudly classifies it within the elite group of speciality quality. For you, this means a guarantee of objectively measured perfection, a flawlessly clean taste and a unique sensory profile that meets strict, artisanal standards.

Craft roasting at BroRoastery.com
We roast our coffee to a medium-light level (3 on a 5-point scale) to highlight natural sweetness and creamy body without losing balance and pleasant nuances. This roast works equally well for espresso and alternative brewing methods.
All our coffees are roasted fresh, in small batches, to reach you in optimal condition. The best flavour qualities develop after a minimum of 7 days from the roast date – following a natural degassing process that stabilises the profile and allows the aroma and balance to fully shine.
The high quality of our beans and the artisanal approach to the roasting process is no coincidence. The commitment to maintaining the highest global standards is confirmed by the fact that our brand's producer is a proud member of the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA). By choosing Bro Coffee Roastery, you are opting for a product created by true experts and passionate enthusiasts.
For us, Colibrí Azul proves that a coffee does not have to be heavy to be memorable. Grapefruit, black tea and hazelnut – light, clean and full of class. Our favourite way to brew it is in a Chemex.
